From a design perspective we built the Galleries to be as engaging and continuous as possible. Here are some of the highlights:

A good photo gallery can keep your users engaged for a long time. We try to do our best to bring that content out to the user at low friction.
Gallery vs. Multi-Gallery
So what is the difference between the two? In a Gallery, media items are just laid out into a single scroll view. In a Multi-Gallery, each item in the feed is a group of photos. We offer both to give you flexibility.
Our Recommendation?
We recommend minimizing navigation and sub navigation by building a section of your app dedicated to photos in a Multi-Gallery. This allows you users to see your entire photo collection and our app does the best job to keep them moving from item to item in that gallery feed.
Here is how each look as a sub-section:

Laying out your Multi-Gallery
We bring some photos up to the stream level. We vary the card layouts based on how many images are in your gallery. If all your gallery items have more than 5 photos than we randomize the layout to offer variety for the user.

Supported Formats
- We support jpeg, png and gif. We even support animated gif in this view.
- Keep your file sizes down while keeping image quality high. Nothing kills the user experience like waiting for stuff to load. Use best judgment in quality vs. image size.
- JPEG is the best. We run our images at 2000px width and a 60% JPEG compression and our images stay below range between 100-500KB. 500KB should be your max file size.
